Niccolo Chengdu Hosts Niccolo Lectures: For The Planet

Chengdu, China, 5 June 2024 – On World Environment Day (5 June), Niccolo Chengdu hosted a Niccolo Lectures event themed ‘For the planet’ in collaboration with BANG Media and Lladró, an exclusive Spanish brand for art porcelain figurines.


Held at The Conservatory on the 8th floor, the event called on all sectors of society to integrate concepts such as environmental protection and sustainable development into everyday routines. Three guests of honour from the media, art and lifestyle industries were invited to share their views about initiatives in environmental protection and sustainable development, which provoked discussions and reflections amongst other guests.



Mr. Robert Cousins, general manager of Niccolo Chengdu, made a welcome speech to all guests attending the event, which was dedicated to green sustainable development. The first speaker, Ms. Chang Wen, BANG Media Shanghai and founder of GOGREEN, talked about a green and sustainable action plan. GOGREEN is committed to incorporating sustainable development into daily life by making sustainable cases of brands and organisations accessible to consumers, creating the new concept of "Sustainability is the New Luxury", and thus leading the trend of sustainable lifestyles.



The second speaker, Mr. Kzeng Jiang, the first Chinese artist to join the creative universe of Lladró, presented his figurine work of "The Guest", and then introduced a range of Lladró porcelain figurines including a Macaw Bird Porcelain Vase. He called on all sectors of society to focus on the protection of endangered species. Jiang also mentioned how to explore environmental protection and sustainable lifestyles through artistic creation. He embedded the concept of green recycling in trendy art, and guided guests in exploring the value of sustainable development from the perspective of artistic aesthetics.



The third speaker, Mr. Cai Daobin, Executive Chef of Niccolo Chengdu, has worked in the culinary industry for over 20 years. From the perspective of a catering professional, he talked about how he is devoted to environmental protection and corporate social responsibility. In terms of ingredient selection, he has used seasonal local ingredients to reduce carbon emissions, and standardised the treatment of waste in primary processing to achieve greenness, eco-friendliness and sustainability. Chef Cai and his team took some local salmon and peaches to the venue, and prepared food in an eco-friendly way for guests, who expressed unanimous praise for the practice.
